Hello! again...
So, you can see from the date of my initial intro post how well my attempt at maintaining a blog went! And this is not the first time I've tried blogging, this was probably literally the only intro post I've ever actually published and left online...
But, here I am once more and I thought I'd like to actually make a concerted effort to try keep this blog going, seeing as the New Year is almost here and maybe this could be something I try to keep up.
At present, its five days after Christmas, I'm in the horrific seasonal limbo that we all seem to find ourselves in at this time and today I resorted to taking down all of the Christmas decorations and extreme cleaning just as something to pass the time and to distract myself (woo for placing my coping mechanisms in compulsive actions). I'm back at home-home, not uni-home, so it has been a good few weeks with the family but I'm kind of ready to return back to Chichester and make an attempt at getting myself into new semester study mode.
Things have been pretty difficult since that last post, a lot has changed and I can even feel it in my writing that I'm in a different, probably worse place now. BUT, I shall try not focus too heavily on that now, but just make this a little post to kind of re-introduce myself. It is the first step into writing again so I'll just post this blog regardless of any doubts I have for it and hope that whoever might be reading - you don't find it too all over the place!
I'm now 20, to be honest, feels no different from 19 really! I have finished semester one of second year and what a ball-ache that was. I've got a post planned for a kind of guide to adjusting to Second year and how different it has been from First year so I'll save a lot of uni discussion for then!
Nothing too drastic has changed since my post in August, I've moved into a student house (post lined up for that...). I have tried to keep up with most of my hobbies and interests but so far my art has kind of been forgotten due to the extremely busy schedule uni has provided. I've gotten really into letter-writing and have actually kept up quite regular contact with friends and family via letters.
Anyway, I thought I'd write this little re-introduction before I launch into proper posts, and I hope that should anyone have bothered to read this you are all enjoying the festive season and trying to convince yourself that you've not just spent the past few days (weeks) in a holiday induced coma!
With love and light,
Lily

Introductions
Welcome to Spirit Me Away…
(Of course, an intentional reference to one of my favourite films and Japanese animators!)
I thought I’d begin my first ever post on here with a little introduction to myself, my interests, why I wanted to start blogging and a sort of preface as to what kinds of posts I might be making on here…
Firstly, my name is Lily, I’m a 19 (almost 20) year
old currently back home for the summer from my first year of university. I am a
dancer, artist, animal/nature/music lover with a passion for collecting rocks,
books and photographs. I’m now a second year studying dance at the University
of Chichester, which I am loving, and also where I am slowly adapting to being
a responsible, self-sufficient adult human; expect a few uni related anecdotal
guides to come! My favourite thing to do when I have time (and the
concentration) is to sketch and paint – my favourite subjects being dancers,
animals and religious architecture. The love of my life is my big ginger
fluff-baby cat called Biscuit, who lives at home along with our other kitties
Buster and Silver Cat – her actual name, I’ll save the origins of silver cat for
a later blog; and a Royal Python called Rocky. Personality-wise, I have an
impossible time describing myself (for example, it took me at least 10
attempts to
summarise myself before I gave up completely!); so, using the kind words of my friends, requested
rather sadly via
twitter…
I am ‘Calm, persistent, caring, witty, thoughtful and lovely’ -which I hope to think is true!
A couple of times before I’ve attempted to write
and maintain a blog but that never seems to go very far… but maybe this time I
will be able to get into blogging!
I decided to start again because being off from uni
over summer means I have some thinking space and a little time to write about
things that interest me. I can discuss topics that I have a passion and appreciation
for and also do a little reflection on my current position in life. You’ll see
blogs about uni, dance, art and music, alongside more personal blogs about
mental health topics and well being. There’ll be some poetry or stream-of-conscious
posts, that will probably make more sense to me than to anyone reading, but, maybe
some of my musings will be relatable and perhaps provide a little comfort.
In all, a pretty eclectic mix of writing –
hopefully I’ll manage to entertain at least one reader, maybe even help a
little by providing experiences that someone could relate to? Who knows! Hopefully
this blog will be a useful tool for me to harness a lot of the thoughts that
often hurtle around my brain, I find it hard to verbalise a lot of what I think,
so writing may work better for me.
Please be kind, you may think my writing absolutely
dreadful, but I am new to the world of blogging and any guidance is very much appreciated.
If you’ve read this far then thank you!
Until the next time,
Lily
